The sales volume of vending machines tends to have less and less market
share in the whole soft drink business during the past few years because
of rise of convenience stores and no demanding spaces for vending machines.
But it is well-known that the vending machine holds an important position.
Nevertheless, we presume that compared with the sales data of the retail
stores within our good grasp through the introduction of POS (Point of
Sale), it is difficult to get the full data with the sales situation of
vending machines, especially of regular services.
So, we are making good use of our past experience in "Research on
the sales volume of vending machines" and we are now researching on
the sales volume of about 400 out-of-door vending machines of twelve beverage
manufactures in the Metropolitan area and Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Kobe
districts.
In this research, we have been gathering sales data every month since 1996
and we are still processing and analyzing our data classified into beverage
manufactures, hot and cold, categories, size and amount of bottles and
packages etc. from all viewpoints.
As started in the opening sentences, we think that the hard situation will
continue in the market surrounding vending machines from now on, too. But
we are building the most suitable sales system to have economies of scale:
more that 2,000,000 vending machines placed all over the country and in
our turn we are trying to offer a proposal followed closely in order for
our customers to be more satisfied with their products which they have
bought.
